Training staff helps reduce the human errors that can result in a security breach or attack.
Good cyber security training can:
We believe that in order for cyber security training to be effective it must have the following elements:
We have designed training resources grouped around specific cyber security topics, such as passwords, devices and digital social engineering. For each topic there is a range of resources including short videos, quizzes, posters and fact sheets. All of the resources are tailored specifically to be used in schools with all staff. We continually review the topics and materials to ensure they are relevant, up to date and include any new and emerging threats.
There is no set way to use the training materials, although we strongly believe in the cumulative effect of frequent small exposures to cyber security training. With that in mind, the training materials have all been produced so that they can be used in short bursts, e.g. for 5 minutes each week during briefing followed by a short quiz. This allows for cyber security training to be ongoing with regular reinforcement. We believe this is much more effective than having one long training session at the beginning of the academic year, which is then quickly forgotten.
